Hello to all,

First of all I like to say that this a excellent piece of software.
It's blistering fast on my Athlon 6000+ x64 2 system.
Running Windows XP Pro x64 with 4 GB memory.
Did a test here with ICE ECC.
Created 90 WinRAR files with 7% redundancy and Recovery Block in volume 2 Equal size.
Deleted on purpose file 90.
Started Windows explorer, browsed to de directory with the .RAR & .ECC files.
Double clicked on the first .ECC file and ICE ECC started to verify all.
It detected that file 90 was missing.
However, it did not start to repair (like Quickpar does).
I had to start ICE ECC and browse to de directory where the ECC & RAR files where.
Then click on the first .ECC file en twice on the OK button.
ICE ECC started to verify, saw block 90 was missing and recovered it.
Did this in 1 minute and 17 sec.
Would love to see that when I double click on the first .ECC file (from Windows Explorer), ICE ECC starts verifying and when it detects that something is corrupt it automaticly starts repairing.
Try to find that option in the program but can not find it.
Or have I done something wrong ?

I think it's not good idea. ICE ECC should not change data files without having asked on this permission at the user.

Hello,

I understand your point of view 'ICE Graphics' but on the other hand you should allow people to let decide by themselves by adding such an option.

By default: autorepair would be turned OFF.

And those who need that option (I'm one of them) could go to the Options menu, tick "Auto Repair" and then ICE ECC program remembers that it have to repair as soon as an error is detected. We have the same option within QuickPar, you have the choice to AutoRepair or not.

Let me take another example:

When you have a 20 giga byte set of files, you check them all, it take 45min, you have an error in one file and ICE ECC stops, you are a bit upset Wink because you have to click again the button "Verify" and wait again for:

- 45 min to check again all the files
- 20 min to repair the file.

When I double-click an ECC file, I want ICE ECC repairs automatically the damages files. I fully understand others people don't want automatic repair but let people decide what they want so that everyone is happy. Smile

Thanks a lot. Smile

Regards,

Johnny.

If you want to use automatic repair use "Verify" instead "Verify only".
